Taiwan Pro-Baseball league "CPBL" 2008 champion Uni-Lions had a amazing trip.They even lost their first game with China league champion Tien-Jing Lions.Uni-Lions 3:4 behind Tien-Jing in 9th inning top. But they hit a tie run and few minutes later hit a walk-off 3 runs homer to overcome the China champion. It was so close that Taiwan would lost to China again since the Olympic Games. But the Uni-Lions showed their hitting ability in time, not let it happen again.
After that, Uni-Lions was getting better. Lost to Japan No.1 Seibu Lions just only one run (3:4). The most exciting was they 10:4 beat Korea Champion SK Wyverns who 13:1 slaughtered Uni-Lions on 2007 Asia series. What a beautiful revenge. Before this game, if Taiwan want to be in the champion match, it needs 3 runs winning at least. On 8th inning top, Taiwan lost 3 runs lead(6:3), Korean got the most important run to become 2 runs behind(6:4). That meant Koreans would be in the champion match even they lost this game. But the miracle happened again in 8th inning bottom.The surprising 3 runs homer totally knock out the Korea Champion. In the end Uni-Lions 10:4 to get another chance to against Japan No.1 for Asia Champion.
Champion match was very tough for both teams. After 8th innings past, it still tied on 0:0. On 9th inning bottom 2 out , one on 1st base, Japanese had a outfield hit. The runner should stop on the 3rd base generally, but the outfielder made an error on passing back to infield, the runner was back to home. So the game finished on a walked-off error. Japan got the only one run to win Asia champion, Taiwan gets runner-up, and then Korea and China.
It's a pity to lose Asia champion for Uni-Lions. But I think it still showed two points during this series. First, to beat Korea, even Japan is possible. We shouldn't lose our faith, maybe the result of Olympic games was terrible, but I think Taiwan is still the good team all over the world. The 2nd point is that China baseball improve very fast. Not only Taiwan, but also Korea and Japan should not look down on them. Finally, I have to say that Uni-Lions did their best and undoubtedly, there are a lot of things need to improve. 2008 Asia Series , Uni-Lions impressed me a lot by their attitude. Well done !
